My Ethnography

I'm planning on doing my ethnographic research project on fishermen/women in Edinboro and Erie PA. I feel like this would be a good subculture to research because I am a fisherman myself and I have a lot of friends who fish avidly and would be very helpfull in this ethnography. I also think that this ethnography would be very interesting.

I plan on interviewing a few people in this ethnography. Mainly im going to interview some of my best friends who are some of the best fisherman I know in the area. One of my good friends actually runs a fishing charter on Lake Erie. Also I plan on interviewing the owner of a fishing store or a bait store. These people would be helpfull in my ethnography

My Research Proposal

The topic I chose for my research proposal is the legalization/ de-criminalization of marijuana and the reformation of marijuana laws in the United States. This is the topic I chose for my research paper and I hope it is approved.

My Topic and Why I'm Interested in It

A few months ago I was surfing the web. I found out from a friend about a website called StumbleUpon, an internet toolbar that randomly searches the web based on your intrests. As I browsed I came upon a movie that really caught my eye; The Union: The Buisness Behind Getting High. I thought it might contain some interesting info so I sat and watched it. Little did I know that this movie would be quite possibly one of the most interesting movies I will ever see in my entire life, and completley change my views on the topic of marijuana legalization.

I think this topic may be my best choice because currently it is the thing that I am most interested in and I think that it would have a huge effect on the country if the laws where reformed. My research paper is going to come from the angle of pro-legalization/de-criminalization of marijuana. There is a mass amount research I can use to back up my view, including the movie I watched and articles from all over the web and magazines. I think that this topic is going to be the most informative and best research paper I will ever write simply for the fact that I am so avid and interested in this topic and I really want to learn about it.

First, Second, and Third Choices

The first topic I have been thinking about researching I already explained in my previous post

The second topic that may be a possible research topic for me is the use of steriods in todays professional sports. I think this is an interesting topic to research with the steriod scandals over the past few years in the news. Should steriods be legal? Should they be aloud in professional sports today? These are all questions I would possibly be interested in researching.

The third topic that I may be interested in researching is the health value of food in "on campus dining" at Edinboro University. This topic intersts me because I've heard a lot of complaints from friends about the quality of food here. Also I recently found out that I have a stomach disorder that requires me to be on a special diet, so I would like to learn about the food here and it's nutritional value.

Research Blog First Post

1. When I sat down to think of topics that I could research for this paper I came up with loads of ideas about what I could write about, but the one topic that really stuck out in my mind was the topic of drugs and the reformation of drug laws in the United States. I recently saw trailers for a few films concerning this topic where information was presented in a way that really got me thinking about it. The trailer that really triggered this intrest was about a movie called The Union: The Buisness Behind Getting High.

2.I've only ever written one research paper and it was last year in my senior year of high school. My research paper was on the morality of pornography.

3. I dont really have any concerns about this research paper, I feel as long as I am researching a topic I like then there shouldn't be any problem
